sCOOL2walk
Promoting Walkability for Children and Youth
Main objective of this phase:
To learn about the mobility habits and needs amongst the school community in each city.
Timeline:
This phase wil take place during March of 2023.
Once the schools have been selected for the project, the first phase is to study the mobility habits and patterns of each school community. This will help us understand how each school engages in active mobility prior to the implementation of the project, and how can the sCOOL2walk have an impact in these schools.
With the goal of understanding the mobility habits for each school in mind, a survey was developed in each city. The responders were asked about their sochiodemographic information, their mobility patterns and their needs and impediments for active mobility. Some schools, like Sant Ramon Nonat in Barcelona were already engaged in active mobility and had a mobility study developed from within the school.
After collecting all the data from the surveys, we have developed some statistics to show the mobility patterns of some of the schools. Take a look at them!
As you can see, walking is the most popular way of going to school for Malta and Barcelona's schools. However, private transport is still very high on the scale. With the implementation of the sCOOL2walk project, we will hope to see this statistics improven in the area of active and sustainable mobility!
