Successful EPF Conference in Copenhagen
EPF hosted its annual conference on 10 and 11 June in Copenhagen where European passenger organisations, public transport operators, politicians and EU officials gathered. The conference saw the participation of over 70 participants from different European countries who took part in the seminars and evening events.
The Danish Minister of Transport, Trine Bramsen, opened the conference on 11 June by welcoming the audience to Copenhagen. In her opening remarks, she talked about the green transition, shared transport and reiterated that bikes will play a key role for the first and last mile. Additionally, the President of the Danish Consumer Council, Anja Philip, highlighted that public transport must be based on the citizens’ needs and experiences. Elisabeth Kotthaus, head of Unit for Social Affairs, Passenger Rights & Equal Opportunities at DG MOVE, mentioned that there is still lots of work to be done for smart, sustainable and inclusive public transport and she summed up on what the European Commission is currently working on.
On the second day of the conference, there were several presentations one which included involving the end users in the development of public transport and the various ways to do this. Still on this topic, Sandra Lima from EPF presented the UMCASE project (more information about the project can be found here on Engage) that intends to intends to shift the attention of policy-makers and mobility experts to those who often do not have a voice, providing cities a method to improve their transport solutions and tailoring them to individual needs.
