Citizens' inclusive and accessible urban mobility solutions

The International Mobility Summit was hosted between 12 – 13 October in Copenhagen, Denmark. The summit brought together the global mobility, transport and smart city ecosystem, thought leaders, innovators, investors and policy makers with the aim of shaping and planning mobility for future cities.

The mission of the International Mobility Summit was to create an inspiring and engaging environment for the global community to connect, share, collaborate on the next generation of mobility challenges and opportunities. Additionally, the summit aimed to showcase cutting-edge technology and bridge the gap between policy makers and industries. During the summit, there were different workshops, keynotes, side events, matchmaking, and tours.

Jesús De La Quintana Perez, Head of Emerging Initiatives Urban Solutions at Tecnalia (UMCASE partner organisation) had the opportunity to present the UMCASE project in a session titled “Creating inclusive and accessible mobility solutions that fit citizen needs: UMCASE Method. In this session he shared insights on:

• How to engage two particular citizen groups in mobility questions (older people and people with low incomes);
• What drives citizens to participate in citizen engagement workshops (internal motivation, incentives, etc.) and how to keep them engaged;
• Best practices on communication and feedback loop;
• Overview of the UMCASE method, opportunities for cities and challenges;
•  An initial overview of the pilot outcomes and recommendations, and how these can be exploited to other cities and regions.

His presentation received positive feedback from the audience and majority of the people that interacted with him wanted to hear more about the project and its outcomes. The moderator of the session added that the unique presentation about user engagement and the social importance given to the UMCASE project is essential for the future of inclusive mobility.
