About this process

This process belongs to Participate in EIT Urban Mobility projects!

The RAISE-UB Project (Railways stations Multi-Service Hubs) creates experimental and temporary interventions in the Chamartin (Madrid) and Rogoredo (Milan) train stations. These interventions are aimed at promoting shared mobility services to enhance intermodality with public transport and, thus, offer alternatives to the use of private cars for trips to and from these stations.

MAIN OBJECTIVE IN MADRID: to experiment with the possibility of converting Chamartín station into a Multi-service Hub, and to test the suitability and convenience of the possible actions with station visitors. Two pilot projects are planned.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES:

  • The first pilot we are going to test is the deployment of new shared mobility services in the station environment. To do this, we want to reserve a parking area in the vicinity of the station for shared mobility services: bicycles, scooters, electric scooters, carsharing and carpooling. The objective is to promote these shared mobility services and enhance their intermodality with the station's public transport system, so that they represent a real and effective alternative to the use of private cars.
  • The second pilot project consists of testing the convenience and public acceptance of a bicycle lane connecting Plaza de Castilla with the Chamartín station. We will paint a strip on the asphalt, as a provisional bicycle lane, to check its level of use and the degree of social acceptance before taking more permanent action if warranted. This will be consistent with the bike lane that will be implemented along the entire Paseo de la Castellana starting from Plaza de Castilla, and would give continuity to the cycling infrastructure and ensure the connectivity of the network.

We invite you to participate in this project around one of the main rail transport stations in Madrid.
